Katy West has developed parallel careers as a designer and curator, linked by her interest in objects – their history, meaning, function and application. Curatorial Projects include Modern Languages, a touring exhibition for the National Craft Gallery, Ireland looking at the interpretation of vernacular crafts by five international artists and designers. Transformers for the National Centre for Craft and Design, England investigating designs to make us stronger, harder, faster, better, coinciding with the Paralympic Games, 2012 and Our Objects (contemporary ceramics in context) for the Mackintosh Museum showing the work of eight international ceramicists.
Associate Curator: Lokesh Ghai
Lokesh is an experienced consultant on traditional Indian crafts and has contributed to a number of projects including Ahmedabad International Arts festival. In 2016 he has been on residency at The V&A Museum of Childhood and is currenty working on Reimagine India with the British Council, India. He has lectured at the Royal College of Art, London; University of Lancashire; National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinager and National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India. He teaches and continues to contribute towards the growth of students at Somaiya Kala Vidya, India’s premier design institute for traditional craft communities.
